There is nothing like throwing in the ol' fishing pole for an hour or two to escape from reality. My dad and I (aka Microtroutster) jumped in the Mountain Miata and headed to the High Uintas up above Kamas Utah. My dad is the consummate professional guide for anyone that wants to escape the mainstream fishing areas and forge head-long into the backcountry. This trip was no exception.
We parked, activated the GPS and started making our way over canyons, boulder-fields, and fresh-water springs to emerge along the banks of Secret Lake (so dubbed by me). The fishing was amazing, nailing high-mountain rainbow trout with virtually every cast. Hardly anyone fishes these lakes found only off the beaten path. Most visitors stay along the highway and fish lakes like Mirror. We’re fine with that…more fish for us.
